This is my fourth year as a yearbook adviser. I would not have survived this long without the great patience and in-depth help of John Bumgarner and Andrew Buhler. They answer every question and have the materials that I needed. It is almost as if they know the questions before I ask them. They are always available and answer emails quickly. The customer service of Jostens is remarkable. I am very happy with Jostens and plan to stay with the company as long as I remain a yearbook adviser.

Awesome – that is John Bungarner. As I approach my sixth year as the yearbook adviser of Wando High School and working with John, two situations come to mind – my first year and this past year. When I first met with John, he immediately eased my anxieties regarding the large student body, coverage, the budget, the size (400 pages) of the book, and my ability to accomplish this weighty task. That was also the year I went out on maternity leave – November through January. While I was out, he visited my staff once a week to make sure they were on track to meet deadlines with quality content – stories, pictures, and design. After surviving that first hectic year, my staffs and I hit some bumps along the way; however, John was able to smooth them over effortlessly. And then came this year’s trials and tribulations: an extremely small staff, superlative drama, and missed deadlines. Through it all, John remained patient, calm, encouraging, and accommodating. Despite missing our final deadline, he was able to work his magic and arrange for our books to ship within a couple of days or our original ship date. John has an exceptional ability to promptly respond to e-mails with feasible solutions while making me feel as if I am the only adviser he is working with. That being said, I’m confident that’s also how he makes his other advisers feel. With season six set to kickoff next week, John has already begun meeting and exceeding my expectations during the off-season – artist session, summer workshop, surveys, etc. The bottom line: If I were a yearbook sales rep competing with John Bumgarner, I would find myself questioning the longevity of my career because he is– and Josten’s too– a tough act to follow.

I have worked as a yearbook adviser for well over a decade now. John Bumgarner has been by my side helping me navigate the treacherous waters that flood one's life as yearbook adviser since very early on in my career. John is simply exceptional. Mine is a large school, and almost every year it is a school that gets tempting offers from each of the other yearbook publishers to switch from Jostens. The simple fact of the matter is that I remain a Jostens customer to this day because of John. John is more than your average yearbook rep. Not only is John actively involved in helping my staff and I with any need that arises, he also regularly hosts workshop and workdays so we can not only learn more but get more done. His adviser dinners at local restaurants are not only tasty, but are a celebration of the work he and his advisers have done together. While John is one of a kind, he is backed by a team at Jostens that provides support and the comfort of knowing the job will be done well and stood behind. I have been a Jostens customer since 1998 because they have earned my loyalty.
